About this policy
This policy describes the current Nanobeasts app for iPhone, its Apple Watch companion, and the Nanobeasts website. Features and permissions may differ by device. You can use the app without creating a Nanobeasts account.
Your profile and creature progress
Nanobeasts stores your chosen player name, creatures and eggs, evolution progress, discoveries, badges, step goals, activity history, and preferences locally on your device. This information supports gameplay, personalized activity insights, and your chosen appearance. Your player name and health or route data are not sent to RevenueCat to manage purchases.
Apple Health, motion, and workout data
With your permission, Nanobeasts reads relevant Apple Health data such as steps, walking and running distance, active energy, exercise time, workouts, and associated routes. The Watch can also use heart rate during a workout. Where supported and authorized, the iPhone uses motion and pedometer data to measure steps and activity.
These measurements power your creature progression, daily statistics, workout tracking, and workout history. Time, distance, pace, calories, and similar summaries may be calculated from the available measurements. When you allow saving to Apple Health, Nanobeasts can write supported workout, energy, distance, and route samples. Reading and saving depend on the permissions you grant; some measurements or features may be unavailable if access is declined.
Nanobeasts does not upload your Health samples, workout measurements, or GPS route archive to a Nanobeasts-operated cloud database. We do not sell health data or use it for advertising, advertising tracking, or marketing profiles. Apple controls any Apple Health synchronization or backup you enable.
Location, routes, and the exploration map
When you grant Location access, Nanobeasts can use your current location to center the workout map and obtain a GPS fix before a workout. If route recording is enabled, it records locations during supported outdoor workouts to draw your route, measure distance, and reveal explored areas through the map fog. An active workout can continue recording in the background or while the screen is locked. Precise Location improves route accuracy; approximate or denied access can limit route features.
Route coordinates, workout checkpoints, and explored-map information are stored on your device. Workouts from your Watch can transfer to the paired iPhone, and authorized routes can be saved to or read from Apple Health. Apple Maps supplies map tiles and map snapshots; requests to Apple may concern the area being displayed. These device transfers and map services are different from uploading a workout archive to our servers. GPS access is not needed for ordinary step-based creature progression.
Apple Watch, widgets, and device transfers
Apple Watch and iPhone exchange workout summaries and routes, workout status, and companion information through Apple's WatchConnectivity services. They also exchange the current creature or egg artwork and the selected interface color. The iPhone shares a limited activity and companion snapshot with its widget extension on the same device. These transfers let you continue your experience across the app, Watch, and widgets.
Route replays, photos, and sharing
Watch my route replays a saved workout on your iPhone. Share video creates a video locally showing the route, clearing map fog, your current creature or egg, and workout statistics. Workout image sharing can also include a photo you choose or take. The system photo picker gives Nanobeasts access to the selected photo; the camera is used only when you choose that feature and allow access.
A replay is not automatically posted or sent to other people. The system share sheet lets you choose a destination, and saving a video or image to Photos uses Apple's permission flow where required. Shared files can reveal the places you visited, your route, and activity statistics. The recipient or service you choose receives that content and handles it under its own policies.
Incomplete video exports are removed when rendering is canceled or fails. Completed export files are kept temporarily so sharing can finish; files older than 24 hours are eligible for cleanup the next time a video export runs. This is not a guarantee of deletion exactly 24 hours later. Copies you save or share remain in the destination until you delete them there.
Purchases and subscriptions
Apple processes purchases for the iPhone app. RevenueCat helps validate transactions, restore purchases, and determine access to paid features. It processes purchase history, product and transaction identifiers, subscription status, and a randomly generated anonymous app user identifier. RevenueCat also provides purchase analytics, including its customer-history and revenue dashboard features. We do not receive your full payment card number.
The app does not use a Nanobeasts login, your player name, or a custom contact-based identifier to identify you to RevenueCat. Apple and RevenueCat handle purchase records under their own policies. Purchase data is not used by Nanobeasts to track you across other companies' apps or websites for advertising.
Notifications
If enabled, Nanobeasts schedules local notifications for supported milestones and workout reminders. During onboarding, you can also opt in to up to five setup reminders, two days apart, if you leave before starting a trial or subscribing. These may use the optional name you entered and whether your setup plan is ready. They stop after the fifth reminder, when you start a trial or subscribe, when you complete onboarding, or when you opt out. Your onboarding answers, saved position, reminder schedule, and notification preferences are stored locally; your name and answers are not sent to a notification provider. Setup reminders can be turned off during onboarding, on the paywall, or in Settings. You can control system notification permission in your device settings. The current app does not use a remote push-notification service.
Artwork, service providers, and website data
Creature and egg artwork is downloaded from assets.nanobeasts.app and cached on your device. Content delivery and hosting providers may receive technical information needed to handle requests, such as IP address, requested asset or page, request time, and browser or app details. Artwork requests do not include your Health samples or GPS route archive.
When you visit this website, hosting, font, icon, content delivery, and embedded-media providers may receive similar technical information. If you contact support, we receive the contact details, message, and any attachments you choose to send. We use support information to answer you and resolve problems. We do not sell personal data.
Apple, RevenueCat, our hosting and content delivery providers, and any service you choose for sharing process information for their respective services. Their privacy policies explain their handling of that information.
Retention and deletion
Local gameplay, workout, and route records can remain on your device while the app is installed. Resetting game progress resets the gameplay archive; it does not erase all workout or route records, cancel a purchase, or delete data already saved in Apple Health. To remove app-local records, delete the app from each device where it is installed. Offloading the app may keep its data. Device backups may retain data according to your Apple settings.
You can manage or delete Health records in Apple Health separately. If Health access remains enabled, supported records can be imported again. Previously shared images or videos must be deleted from the places where you saved or sent them. Apple and RevenueCat may retain transaction records for purchase restoration, fraud prevention, and their legal obligations.
We retain support messages for as long as needed to respond, maintain necessary records, and meet applicable obligations. To ask about or request deletion of personal data we control, contact support@nanobeasts.app.
Your permissions and choices
Health, Motion & Fitness, Location, Camera, Photos, and Notifications permissions can be reviewed or revoked in the relevant Apple device settings. You can also use the app's route-recording and notification controls where available. Turning off a permission stops the associated future access; it does not automatically remove copies already saved or shared. Settings keeps links to this policy, terms, support, and Apple's subscription management available to all users. Deleting the app does not cancel an Apple subscription.
Children
Nanobeasts is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can review and delete it where required.
Policy updates and contact
We update this policy when our practices change and show the revision date at the top of this page. For privacy questions, support, or deletion requests, contact support@nanobeasts.app.
